San Francisco: Apple is allegedly preparing to release an AR / VR headset hybrid with a very similar design as the controller for the HTC Vive headset that was launched in 2016.
Recently MacRumors released images of an internal test controller that comes with simple design. The Apple AR/VR headset may be launced as early as next year.
It has been announced that iOS 14 features a new Augmented Reality (AR) app codenamed Gobi, and it is speculated that Apple will use this app along with QR codes to test augmented reality experiences on its AR/VR headset.
Apple aims to reach out to third party developers and enable them to create applications as early as 2021 for the hardware. The headset can be like the Oculus Quest with a high-resolution display and a lightweight design that makes it comfortable to wear.
The AR headset will be sport a sleek design so that it is lightweight and comfortable for wearer as they can travel freely and safely for long stretches, said the report.
It is also anticipated that the device would sport a high-resolution display, enabling consumers to read small bits of text while other people in front of them at the same time.
The Cupertino-based tech giant is also testing AR/VR game titled ‘crosswalk bowling game’.
